KENDALL'S SPAVIN CURE DISPLAY
SHARE BILLING AT VEAPS MEETING
Kendall's Spavin Cure, the horse medicine that brought prosperity and international renown to Enosburg, Vermont will be one of the topics discussed at the Vermont Ephemeral and Postcard Society's (VEAPS) 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 13th meeting in St Paul's Methodist Church in St. Albans. Mr Brooke Paige, the speaker, will also display his extensive collection (probably the world's largest) of Kendall ephemera and memorabilia. Mr. Paige, a Philadelphia, Pa. entrepreneur, is an authority on veterinary ephemera, a life member of the Vermont Historical Society, a member of the Ephemera Society of America, the Veterinary Collectors Roundtable, and the Vermont Ephemera and Postcard Society (VEAPS).
Also on the agenda at the same meeting as the opening item will be the "A History of Postcards," by VEAPS president Richard Gumpert. Mr. Gumpert, the proprietor of Ragged Island Books Maps & Prints in Enosburg, will discuss the influence of trade cards, calling cards, and other early ephemera on the development of the postcards, the golden age of postcard production and collecting, the postcard as artifact, and currents trends in collecting and pricing. Mr. Gumpert is a member of the Vermont Antiquarian Booksellers Association (VABA), the Ephemera Society of American, and other business and professional organizations, as well as VEAPS.
Those planning to attend are invited to bring postcards they might like to discuss and to bring examples of Kendall material in their own collections.
The meeting is open to all interested. For further information contact: Richard Gumpert at 933-6248 or at email@example.com
